Hi,
Really interested in purchasing a new TV, my 10 year old Sony 32" starting to go south. I'm defintely getting a widescreen, started looking at 34" CRT widescreens, then got interested in RPTV widescreens. My question boils down to life span of these technologies. How do the CRT's stack up against the RPTV's?? I was really and still am considering a 45-50" RPTV with LCD or DLP as their picture is truly stunning. But after reading on this and other HDTV forums I'm not so sure their longevity is anywhere close to a widescreen CRT. THe RPTV with CRT also has a pretty good picture now too, but what is their life span compared to the older CRT?? I'm used to buying a TV and having it last at least 8-10 years, but these RPTV (CRT, LCD, or DLP) have me a little worried. I realize that most of their problems are the bulb, but the chatter on these forums makes it sound like I'll be changing that as often as I change my living room light bulb!! Any comments please to help my make up my mind!! Thanks--great forum!!!
