Since HD FTA receivers are so new, limited software, and all unproven, along with their costs and the uncertainty of the life expectancy of pirating signals...I wouldn't even consider buying a HD FTA receiver now, unless U are very financially secure, and don't have high expectations..

Mandatory CW3000HD update!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How about a CW3000HD section?
thanx OHG

___________

From the CW support people

C/P

For all people that have received the CW-3000HD to date and any that receive one in the near future with a serial number of CWHD0703120123 or less you need to follow these instructions. You will not be able to update your system until this is done!

Attached to this message is an iso image that needs to be downloaded and burned to a CDRom. For those that are unable to either download this image or burn the image to a CD we will send you a CD. Go here for instructions and the file you need:

http://captiveworks.org/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=321&page=1#Item_0

Unzip the file to get lcd.iso and burn it to a CD with your favorite CD burning software.

Once you have a CD with this image on it, insert the CD into the DVD drive of the CW-3000HD. Then shutdown the CW-3000HD.

You will need to connect a computer keyboard for the next step. Any functional USB or PS/2 computer keyboard will work. Once the Keyboard is connected press the power button to start the system.

When the initial splash screen shows up (that is the one with the press TAB line at the bottom) press the F8 button on your keyboard. The bottom line will change to "Enterin g Boot Menu".

When the boot menu displays, use the up/down arrow keys on your keyboard to select the DVD drive. It will be listed under a CDROM heading and named "Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A". Press enter after selecting the DVD drive.

The system will boot and you will see text scrolling up the screen and then it will reboot on it's own. The system will now be able to apply any updates that become available.

You may remove the CD and do with it as you like. It will not be needed again.

This is required to initiate your machine and is not a bin for watching tv. This must be done first!

Manuall install download it
put it on a usb stick
place the stick in the cw-3000
go to admin->updates->install
choose external
choose usb1
find your file
press the blue button to install

Dish HD working on CW3000HD, genpix says

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a new annoucment made on the official genpix website by the maker of genpix, i am not sure if we are allowed to put a link to the actual announcment but here is that part :
C&P

02/22/2007 Update:

For those of you who are sending me questions "how to connect 8PSK-to-USB2 to FTA receiver ?":
This adapter was designed to work with PC, and provided drivers work on PC only.
As of today, CaptiveWorks' CW-3000HD is the only FTA receiver which was proven to work with such adapter.
The reason is simple: this receiver is a custom PC running Linux (and 8PSK-to-USB2 adapter is already supported by Linux).
As for other FTA receivers, you have to ask their manufacturers (not me) how to connect external DVB-s card to these receivers.
Presence of USB 2.0 connector in the receiver does NOT make it compatible with all USB 2.0 devices

That posts just reiterates my previous post, that these are so new that coders are still scrambing to get them operational..

and BTW...I do NOT believe U will get DN channels, ONLY Bev..again I wouldn't even consider this ...I can financial afford it, but do NOT believe in buying new unproven products with too many bugs as all new products do always have....manufactureres are too quick to release new products to make a quick buck, then worry about the problems later..while u have a non working expensive product..the companies and their marketing people will tell u all the BS and hype to get U to buy their new products..
