I bought a new viewsat ultra from authorized dealer. All specifications match with genuine ultra except two things: 1) remote is smaller and does not say "Viewsat" on it; the usb print letters on fron panel are dark brown instead of dark red. Is it clone or genuine?
it sounds like a clone to me....check the screws on the back and use comparison pics...if all else fails open it up and see if they have a card reader (clones have a fake card reader)
Hey Pegg I think the dealer got the Elevator and you got the shaft. Counterfeit 1)Remote don't say Viewsat. 2)Two (2)screws on each side. 3)No rubber feet. Check it out,take it back.
i just read this post and realized i have a clone. ive been using it for a long time now. i just wanted to know if it makes a difference? i want to get a second box and i wanted to know before i buy one. thanks!
Many times with clone receivers, they will "die" when using files for genuine OEM receivers..Viewsat has a program going on to drop a dime on the dealer U got your clone from and , be provided a genuine in return...
I stand corrected....its a $5000 reward upon conviction of a clone dealer..there is a great post above by albino midget with a link...sorry I just noticed it...
upon further inspection, despite the $5000 i could have just made - my viewsat appears to be real afterall. its just old. however, i think i have a fake remote. go figure. i have 1 screw on the side, the audio/video inputs are the dark grey like the fake tho, i dont have an on/off switch period, and im not sure about the feet or the spdf thing, but i will be sure to check.
Definately sounds like a fake to me. How can it be that old. Just came out last year.. did it not? I'm sure it hasnt changed that much since the release date.
