New member Username: AzkoPost Number: 2 Registered: Jan-07 | we had a storm here in toronto a couple days back and the power went for a while...since then the dish hasnt been working ..the receiver which is a fortec star hasn't even been coming on..wht can i do? |
Gold Member Username: NydasPost Number: 2084 Registered: Jun-06 | If the receiver is not coming on, you have pwer supply problems - perhaps your receiver got destroyed from a power surge, or it may bjust be a fuse problem. |
Gold Member Username: PrfrmnjPost Number: 2208 Registered: Oct-05 | Unfortunately Fortec Receivers do not have internal fuses. If the receiver is not coming on then the receivers power supply went out. It is not worth replacing this since these receivers are going for about $50.00 to $60.00 on ebay which is probably what it would cost to fix the power supply. You may want to unplug the receiver from where it is right now and plug into different power outlet to see if it works... |

Gold Member Username: NydasPost Number: 2085 Registered: Jun-06 | PRFRMNJ: You seem to have acquired a habit of chasing me where-ever I post. You may have a Fortec, but it does not mean that all Fortec Ultras are the same. So do read this up and know that there is an internal fuse at least in some Fortec Ultra receivers. I suggest you stop trying to discredit me every time I post. http://www.kansat.com.au/specifications/fs5100.php POWER SUPPLY Input Voltage AC 90 to 250 VAC (SMPS), 50Hz/60Hz Power Consumption Max 25W Stand-by Power < 5 Watts Protection Separate internal fuse |
Gold Member Username: PrfrmnjPost Number: 2221 Registered: Oct-05 | Nalin - I can care less where you post. I know for fact that the fortecs I've worked on have no internal fuse. I opened them when I did the resistor mod to convert them to a Pansat I've done this on at least 30 of these. However, if you have information or knowlege that some of these units do have an internal fuse then post it. As a matter of fact why don't you take a picture of it and show everyone rather then trying to pick a fight with me you. |
Gold Member Username: PrfrmnjPost Number: 2223 Registered: Oct-05 | I guess I should have clarified that before you get your pantiies in a -- well you get the picture.
