Post Number: 880 Registered: Sep-06 | I need an answer from someone who may know.....I have checked Wikipedia, and Corpopedia (sp) and a few other sites. Does Chrysler own Mercedes, or the other way around? Everybody I talk 2 says other way around - Mercedes own Chryler. But that is not what any internet research has shown me - is it outdated? I know it seems hard 2 believe, but check out the link at this corpknowpedia: http://corpknowpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Mercedes-Benz These dang redneck argumentative buggers are clobbering me with some silly crap info, but there facts don't check out. I remember learning about this years ago, because i recall being disappointed that Chrysler was taking over Mercedes.... now i'm being told no. Help! My whole rebuttal rests on this info, does anybody have a link that contradicts the one above? Oh yeah, my Pansat 2700 is fine, so is my RitzDVB FTA PC Card, and thanks 2 all of u for all the help. |

Silver Member Username: RunnerguyPluto Post Number: 120 Registered: Sep-06 | May 7, 1998; Chrysler Corporation and Daimler-Benz have merged to form DaimlerChrysler, the fifth largest automobile maker in the world. The consolidation of these two major automakers is being called the deal of the century and has become emblematic of the growing trend toward globalization in the automotive industry. C/P Google |
Silver Member Username: Eatfish111Post Number: 145 Registered: Dec-06 | merged yes but chrysler has controlling interest in shares. |
Silver Member Username: RyersonresurrectedCANADA Charlatan... Post Number: 883 Registered: Sep-06 | So far, i like what i'm hearing ... but the "merger" is a problem word... cause that could mean diff controlling interest. I think the argument they are providing is ridiculous anyway, i can't verify any of it. The argument they are making is that the German government owns Mercedes.... Mercedes owns a big share of America's war industries, and thus the German gov has an interest in American wars. I can't find any of that.... 2 verify it. And i don't buy it, it stinks of lies, and bs & is not consistent at all. The NYSE investors own Chrysler, therefore that whole argument of theirs is baseless and incorrect, i think. But i promised i'd double check this.....just curious what /where this info is coming from. |

Approximately one billion shares are circulating. Stock listings The stock is listed on the stock exchanges in Frankfurt (Germany), New York Stock Exchange and Stuttgart (Germany). The company has applied for a voluntary withdrawal of its Ordinary Shares from listing on various stock exchanges This info comes right from Chrysler Corp website. It would appear no Government has any ownership |

Zulu, i'm in the process of checking out Hoovers 2 see if they have that info... i doubt theses guys have anything right.... and i still think their whole argument was based on lies, and wrong on the facts. I wanna give them the benefit of the doubt, and do a recheck of all of it first. |

Silver Member Username: PffftYa Right Post Number: 103 Registered: Jan-07 | Before GM can buy out Chrysler they will have to go thru approval. think of how many dif automotive companies that GM already ownes. to allow GM to purchase Chrysler i dont think will be allowed for too much of a monopoly will be put into GM's hands |
Silver Member Username: PffftYa Right Post Number: 104 Registered: Jan-07 | and if memory serves me correct (getting old so sometimes it fails me) Chrysler was in deep trouble quiet a few years back and pulled out of it ok (mainly thanks to many government and puplic service companies purchasing Chrysler products thru a bid.) |

Post Number: 237 Registered: Dec-06 | Bill, u have other things 2 worry about.... for the very few million people that u have in Alberta, u have the worst pollution of anybody. I was just watching a report about Alberta pollution problems.... and how no politician wants 2 touch it because of big oil. I do sleep very good at night because, even if alone i can't achieve the standards i believe in, i'm doing my part 2 better it for everyone. Progress never meant over night - and i'm happy to be progressive, as opposed 2 conservative backwards. |
Bronze Member Username: CntrlaltdelPost Number: 99 Registered: Nov-06 | "I was just watching a report about Alberta pollution problems.... and how no politician wants 2 touch it because of big oil." Awesome, isn't it... the POWER of greed! Climate change is a pile of B.S... it still snows in the winter, and is warm in the summer... and all record temperatures we beat lately were from the early 1900's... weather patterns rotate every hundred years, that's all. Don't beleive Liberal propaganda... they're trying to scare some votes! |
Bronze Member Username: CntrlaltdelPost Number: 100 Registered: Nov-06 | By the way, Ryer, my ole buddy... the only thing that worries me is when my VS doesn't autoroll, and that's about all. |
Silver Member Username: RyersonresurrectedCANADA Charlatan... Post Number: 888 Registered: Sep-06 | LOL - Bill, u even use their words: "climate change" It's hilarious that all conservative types stick 2 the same lines: Ur all afraid of the phrase "Global Warming" because u don't want 2 ever admit u were wrong. No, u are all arguing about how "Climate Change" is a regular occurrence. Funny how all conservatives stick together with the exact same talking points at the same time. Bush mentions "Climate Change" in his State of the Union address, and everybody falls into line behind him. It's interesting 2 watch propaganda take it's course, and how many people get swallowed up by it. Marketing is powerful, and unless u enlighten urself, and rid urself of the thought-control that u fell under, u will never be able 2 think for urself. How many attend these silly propaganda meetings of yours...lol BTW, cold temperatures, and blizzards, an increase in hurricanes at odd times, wacky weather everywhere in general, are all part of the "Global Warming" crisis. Even extreme cold, so ur silly point about enjoying warmer temps might backfire. U live in Alberta - if it's always cold there, it may be harder for u 2 notice the changes because extreme cold is normal for u, & warmer temperatures are welcomed - and ur gov and media won't help u understand the global consequences either. It is in their interest that u continue 2 think like u do. But i know that eventually, when ur types do wake up, u will blame the "government" and u will argue that government lied to u. U will then go with the party that proposes less government, and u will vote the Conservatives back in. The circle of ignorance and stupidity is endless, as history has shown. Bill, luckily u have exposure 2 someone who's telling u 2 think from a different perspective, and one day u will use ur knowledge 2 rebut some other redneck's conservative arguments. The problem with conservatives is that they love to stop a conversation of truths, because it hurts. No conservative wants to argue logic and truth because it's un-winnable... so better not 2 bring it up. I stand with 97% of the world's environmental scientists who disagree with u and ur conservative friends. |
Silver Member Username: PffftYa Right Post Number: 114 Registered: Jan-07 | how did this go from talking about Chrysler vs General Motors to Global warming? thats damn near something that would happen to me with the little woman |
Silver Member Username: Crazy_greekPost Number: 665 Registered: Jul-06 | Hey Mr Pig How are you and your little woman doing in this cold weather in Alberta.Did you cut enough fire wood to keep you little woman warm? My guess would be,that she needs the fireplace to stay warm. |
Silver Member Username: PffftYa Right Post Number: 115 Registered: Jan-07 | ahhh no fireplace. things are nice and warm here though. thanks |
Silver Member Username: RyersonresurrectedCANADA Charlatan... Post Number: 890 Registered: Sep-06 | Ah, Bill Hunter and I have a long-standing political debate going.... Well, debate is perhaps an overstatement. Bill is very conservative, and proud, and I am very progressive, and perhaps even more proud. |
