A helpful neighbor gave us his source selector box (rca) to make tv viewing easier. It has. We have our dvd, satellite box, vcr and tv all connected to this box using rca plugs. All we have to do is reach over and push the button on the selector to change from viewing on dvd or satellite or video tape.
Our problem is that we can't record anything on the vcr. Since there's nothing coming in to the vcr, I figure that's the culprit. But when I've tried variations of things to connect the vcr separately from the selector to the tv or the satellite box, I am still unsuccessful. There is no way for me to connect the satellite box to the vcr using rca plugs since there's only one set of rca plugs on the back of the sat box -- and it's going back into the source selector box. Therefore I've tried using the wire with the pinhead on it to connect the sat box to the vcr, and it's a no go.
Have you tried splitters? A single connection to selector box and at least two sets of comparable leads coming out. You can buy them in any electronic store. Let me know if this works.
