I have just purschaed a a new dvd recorder and plays and works fine .When i insert any dvd-r disc it always says no disc and so i can't record.is the machine defective or am i missing something?
Its a" go video r6540" and its a plus recorder.plays burned cd and factory movies no problem ,as soon as i put in a blank dvd it it does the usual scanning bit then says "no disc".I've tried everything the manual says and same out come.Is Their a big enough difference between a plus and minus disc? will try different polarity if thats gonna help. Thanks for the reply David.
You can't use a - disc in a + recorder. I don't know as one is better than the other, but the manufacterers of the best DVD recorders are -, Toshiba, Pioneer, Panasonic. The newer Panasonics do + discs too though. There are a few players that won't play + discs, Toshiba for one.
