Hello All, I have a VS2000 Platinum. It was working fine until a few nights ago. It turns off by itself then when it turns on it says "boot, End" and sometimes it goes into a loop where it keeps doing this until I turn it off from the back. I'm no expert but I am guessing its maybe the bin but I dont know thats why I wanted to ask you all.

Hey LK Very nice, now how about ask these Viewsat Engineers to upgrade their software so I won't lose my added satellites and TPs, When I do a Factory Setting.If they can do it, then I will buy their receiver.
The factory settings in menu option des EXACTLY what it says and is intended to do, reverts the settings back to what they were set at in factory!.....how can U upgrade something that works 100%!
There is NO need to always reset back to factory settings..why?
If U want to add sats and channels or Tp's , then just do it...and use channel master and save it, then upload your saved channel list, then U lost NOTHING!
Hey LK Let me see if I can explain why. I have a Motorized Dish system. Two (2) receivers and I can scan in twenty (20) satellites. I can add four (4) more, plus I will have to add a lot of missing TPs. Now I want to do the following scan for each Bird. Satellite Scan TP Scan Network Scan Advanced Scan Blind Scan This Scan test will tell me which one will be the best to use. When Iam finish with this test as you can see I will have the same channel four (4) times,now I will do a Factory setting,now there goes the the new TPs that I have added. I know what I would like to do,only hard for me to explain.
Why aren't you backing up your sat/chan files into say ChannelMaster? I keep backups just in case i need to do a factory default. As long as its not your sat/chan files CAUSING the corruption flash them back.
For safety I also backup my entire box setup (sat/chan/pgm) to a folder before a new bin is installed. It takes up so little HDD space for the peace of mind.
sorry to bother you guys again but the same problem is happening again. Why does the bin get corrupted or is it over heating. I loaded the original like advised then I loaded the updated bin. What is the problem now? -should I open the box up and clean the inside.
John...since U have had the same problem with 2 digffrent bins and same receiver, then I suggest U have a receiver issue......are U sure its NOT a clone?

disconnect the cable
Load the factory bin, v0033, to clear the processor...then load older bin 1213.
If all else fails, ............smack the top of the cabinet, and smack again until the rebooting stops. It has been reported that some VS models have inferior crap cheap soldering connections. Intermittent connections.
"smack the top of..". Smacking a child is going to be a criminal offence in California, if a private member bill passes. So look up the law in your state about smacking anything or anybody.
lk thanks for the solution again and for the site it was really helpful. if anyone has the same problem with the viewsat I advise visit the site LK provided and try the viewsat repair files they really helped me out.
