Yes, the most important think you should know is to READ... But that was something you should have done before buying it. Had you done that, you wouldn't have spent your money on it... Always do research before doing anything. The sites posted above have a lot of inormation on the do's and don't. Please start there to avoid yourself a headache, trouble and money.
Merry Christmas

I have a Pansat 2500a that does not recieve anything. It did have that rollover software but nothing now. Can someone tell me how to download the best current software or tell me what I need to do to get the channels back. Also if I need to download the current program can you tell me where to get it and what cable to use between my computer and the Pansat. And also where to plug the cable in.

You must first check what software your receiver has, go to menu then to system information, that will tell you which software version you have, the latest bin for 2500 is bin 286, on the other hand you must be sure you have the latest set of keys, there is a thread about keys here on this site, take a look at it, then go to menu, then select parental control, enter the code, then go to nagra 2 and check the numbers you have at 0101, they will match with the latest keys if not, you must enter those numbers manually....

In my system Information is says: x-85BL API:2.77a_EU Boot ver: 6.0 09.JUN.2006 Future-FTA. After I checked this out I Hit Factory Setting and Delete and now I cant exit any farther than Language screen. then I tried a Blind scan for FTA and for ALL and 0 transponders were found. So I think I need instructions from the very beginning to get out of this mess.

Johnny...

By hitting the "Factory reset" button what you did was delete the whole configuration info, you will have to start from 0 here.......

What you have to do is a detailed physical inspection of your installation, follow the cables from your antenna to the switch, take note of the input numbers where the cables go into the switch, it will also be neccesary for you to take a look at the LNB type you have, tell us if you have dual or single LNB's.

After that go to menu, select your language then "Installation", then "Antenna setup", look for echo 8 and echo 7, your settings must look like this:

el echo8 110
lnbtype>>>>>>>standard
lnblocal-freq>>>>>>11250
22khz>>>>>>>>>>>>>>off
diseqc>>>>>>>>>>>>>#1
skew>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>0
tp>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>(1)12224v20,000
possitioner setting>>>>>disable
satelite scan >>>>>>>>>>>all

echo7 119
lnbtype>>>>>>>standard
lnblocal-freq>>>>>>11250
22khz>>>>>>>>>>>>>>off
diseqc>>>>>>>>>>>>>#2
skew>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>0
tp>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>(1)12239v20,000
possitioner setting>>>>>disable
satelite scan >>>>>>>>>>>all

the LNB type may vary depending on what you have at your installation, by having these settings correct you should have signal and quality level and you will be able to do a blind scan....

Let us know how things are going.....

PRFRMNJ.....

Well, the diseqc input always depend on how the installation is wired, that's why I always ask people to take a look at their installation, there are people that don't follow a pattern when installing....like me....I made my whole installation myself and wire the LNB's to input 2 & 3....LOL........so, it's better for them to take a look just to be sure about it and the plus here is that they will learn a little bit more about what they have......

Don't worry, you know I'm the kind of guy who likes to hear different ideas and personally never get upset about it.....

Nikk - Agree with you 100%. I've actually done the installation different and then started standardizing it to avoid confusion. Specially when the DishPro LNB are confugured that way. But yes, everyone does it differently...

Is anyone available to help with my pansan 2500a anttena installation with my dish 500. Most importantly, other than the skew and elevation, without a compass can someone tell me which way it should face?

Sorry, should have said I'm in La Canana, California which is right next to Pasadena. Isn't there a general direction like South or Southwest that it should be pointing?

I'm I supposed to have a bar show up for the "quality" bar of the set up?

Then you must do a search to southeast, declination for your dish must be around 46.5°, you need to find the signal first, then adjust to get quality.....

Start pointing to southeast, then start slowly moving to south until you find the signal....
