We get cable from Time Warner (formerly Adelphia in So CA). We pay $13 mo. for Basic Cable - channels 2-37, but somehow we receive thru channel 76, the equivalent of their next level up, Standard Cable. Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, in order to make the signal "digital" ready for a new plasma TV, TWC gave us two choices. Upgrade to full digital cable package - over $50 mo., or just rent a digital set-top box for $5.50 mo. We did the $5.50 rental, and picked up our box in person. Of course, the counter girl had to log it into our account. So here's the dilemma: when we patch the box in between our cable feed and our TV, we get an improved picture, but we only get the first 37 channels, probably because she logged the box in just for Basic. When we drop out the box, we're back to 76 channels. Is there a way to "fool" the box, or somehow alter it's account recognition, to work on all 76 instead of just the first 37 channels?
