I am that guy - I am new to the forum with a rather basic question, but I post it nonetheless. I am looking to buy an HDMI DVD player for $200-$500. It does not have to play SACDs or have anything fancy. I just want a good quality player that has sound circuitry and solid HDMI output. I will be hooking this up to a 40" LCD, and I want to maximize the video quality. Any insight would be appreciated.
You may be able to find a Denon 2910 or 955 around for less than $500 because it is being replaced by the 2930Ci. I own the 955 and it is a good solid player.
Others i would consider are Marantz and Pioneer Elite. I think they may have better support than the Denon would. Marantz comes with a 3 year warranty and Pioneer Elite with a 2 year compared to Denon's 1 year.
