I bought my 1st HDTV last week and I get it home expecting the hdtv to be clearer than my CRT tv.
Boy was I wrong about that! Now I do have an xbox 360 hooked up to it and the picture on games is amazing, the clarity and sharpness are awesome on 1080i, and although dvd movies look good, they still only play in 480p for some reason. I wish i could get dvd's to play in atleast 720p.. My real concern is my cable channels.... most channels look worse than my CRT tv cable channels ;( (blury, fuzzy, and out of focus)
Any techy's out there that can help me understand what I need to do to get a picture atleast as clear as my CRT tv on my new hdtv would be great... My coax cable is directly connected to my hdtv.(no cable box) The hdtv I am using is a 37" Vizio LCD the newer model version
You could have the cable company come out and check your signal strength to make sure you're not out of range or too low. I wouldn't expect miracles when looking at analog pictures on a HDTV, but they should look moderately good, especially on a 37" screen.
