I understand that the ECM has been pulled and all FTA that were not working are now open. So shouldn't the VS now fail since it was changed to counter the ECM that is no longer in place??
Good question, but the answer is not necessarily. The current VS bin should incorporate the old stream, the same one the locals work from which VS was decoding before this 'ECM' was dropped. The 'ECM' is a different coding, affecting only the channels applied to. The old coding, based on the same encryption technique should still be in the previous bin. That's why programs written for previous versions of Windows will usually work with today's XP but your XP programs 90% or more of the time will not work with previous versions. V
