I am going to be switching to Dish Network from DirecTV in a couple of weeks and have ordered the HD DVR and a couple of HD receivers. I noticed that they all have an ethernet port on the back that Dish notes is for future use. Anyone have any ideas what they will be used for? I am hoping that the receivers will be able to access content (preferably HD) stored on the DVR and play it on a local television in HD format. Also, hopefully it will be able to operate over any computer network (I presume it should). It would also be nice to get updates, programming info, etc... over the internet rather than the phone line and maybe Dish will come out with some PC applications that somehow integrate with the receivers/DVRs over the network. If the receivers and DVRs could communicate with each other over a network it could really open up some exciting features. Anyone have any ideas/insight into what the ethernet is going to be for?

I dont think that this is what it will be used for. I think it will be used for as an alternate to using the connected phone line and for updates.

Companies are so annal about Copyright protection to allow you to view it on a computer.
