Not necessarily. If may work somewhat or not at all. For example, if you use a circular lnb for a FTA satellite (which needs a linear lnb), you will get a signal but it will be very weak. But if you're confusing a standard lnb for a universal, you probably won't get anything. I don't know what your particular situation is.
