Even plastic is more vulnerable to ECM than an auxed card with emu. And Neosat... seems to be easiest and cheapest. But, i'd give it some time in the field before buying one. |

But only time will tell if a TRUE Ecm will have an effect on the card. If it does there goes a lot of cash down the toilet. OH the price we pay for Free TV. I did a little quick math. And with all the cards, Ird's, card readers, JTAGS, etc, etc, since I've been testing sats. All the way back to the Direct TV HU card days LOL. I have almost $1,800 invested. |

Tina, my c00lsat purrs like a kitten, and autoroll even works! At least C00lsat has an inherent (built-in) blocker so my ROM102 won't get looped. |

Silver Member Username: HardrockstrikerPost Number: 396 Registered: Apr-06 | Once your ROM102 card in unlocked, it cannot be stream-locked (with a newer revision) nor looped, etc because the way the C00lsat works is it "aux's" the card. Aux is another word for "slave". In other words, the ROM102 card is only used to input data and read the output - the card is never written to. The reason for the card being protected is because the C00lsat bin is designed to work that way. With plastic, you would have to put what's known as a "blocker" to protect the card. And even then there are ways to ECM the card. It's true that VS has a fix. But, no, their bin won't work on any other FTA receiver. It's up to the other companies to develop their own fixed bin. |

Silver Member Username: HardrockstrikerPost Number: 443 Registered: Apr-06 | Go to dsstest*com (replace * with a dot), go to C00lsat files link, then grab file: COOLSAT6000_NORW_126_20060726.stb (but get the file that is appropriate for your receiver 4K, 5K, or 6K). I haven't tried this bin without a card for just locals, but I think it should work. Give it a try and let me know if it works or not. |
