Removing RID Number for DTIVO RCA DVR-40

I have a RCA DVR-40 and I heard there is a modification that can be done to it to remove the Receiver ID Number from it, that way it looks like a Philips DSR-7000 or Philips DSR-6000.

Can anyone point me to a site where I can get more information?
