How to Convert a Bell Express VU Receiver to Receive Dish Network
Bell Express VU uses the same receivers as Dish Network. Some newer models uses a slightly different model numbering -

i. Dish 301 is the same as Bell 3100

ii. Dish 501 is the same as Bell 5100

To convert a Bell Receiver to receive Dish Network you need a JTAG reader and a software called JKEYS

For 2700, 2800, 3700 series receivers simply erase SA5 sector using JKEYS and hookup the receiver to the DISH 119 Satellite and the receiver will automatically update to Dishnet firmware.

For 3800, 3900 series receivers simply erase SA8 sector using JKEYS and hookup the receiver to the DISH 119 Satellite and the receiver will automatically update to Dishnet fireware.

For 4700, 4900 series receivers simply erase SA30 sector using JKEYS and hookup the receiver to the DISH 119 Satellite and the receiver will automatically update to Dishnet fireware.

For 3100 series receivers simply erase SA0 sector using JKEYS and hookup the receiver to the DISH 119 Satellite and the receiver will automatically update to Dishnet fireware.

Once the firmware is updated program and install digital lock on receivers same as any Dishnet receiver.

Yes you con convert hardware between the providers but the problem is once you pick a provider on ones hardware you must stick to that provider. EG Bev card to DN must be used as DN from that point on.

How to Use Jtag Reader Device
The guide will help end users and dealers on how to use a JTAG.

A JTAG is simply a special cable that allows you to interface your computer with the receiver so you can read and write to the receiver firmware chip.

i. For receiver models 2700, 3700, 4700 series there will be a port opening at the bottom of the receiver. You simply hold the JTAG cable to this opening and plug the other end into your computer printer port - Plug in the receiver AC power - Launch JKEYS and Jkeys should detect your receiver and you can perform read and write functions.

ii. Some 301 or 3100 series receivers does not have a hole at the bottom of the receiver - in this case you need to open the receiver and access the port via the circuit board by removing the circuit board from the receiver housing. You need to be careful not to short circuit anything. Again carefully holding the jtag correctly to the correct pins - plug in receiver AC power - Launch JKEYS and Jkeys should detect your receiver and you can perform read and write functions.
