I am trying to upload the lastest bin to my pansat 3500sd because I have been having some Freezing issures (b-70), however I am encountering an "access denied" error to the serial port on my PC. Device is running properly, however there must be another program already accessing it. No luck, any suggestions. I appreciate it!

What os do you run? How many com ports do you have listed under your device manager (right-click on my computer, select properties, select hardware)?

Turn off your pc, do not restart, turn on, try again.

Eva, I tried that, I even tried to turn on my pc in safe mode hoping the program accessing the port would not load, -nothing!

By the way, I have another pc, a laptop but it does not have a serial port just a female port which abviously would not work with the rs232 cable, so my question is , would a usb to serial converter work to connect my receiver to the laptop to upload the bin file?

Tom the freezin issue with your receiver, its autoroll bev/dn on. Stop all except keys. The usb option do not funtion with all pansat 3500, but you can try, but with converter i think you will receive failure message. There is rs232 female to female for pc/receiver. And your box can be set if you have sd card slot in your pc/lap.

You could use a USB to RS232 converter. They are a bit expensive, but is the way for the future. You could buy in Radio Shack, CDW, or even tigerdirect. Simply do a search using the description USB to RS232 converter. Good luck.
