I've been researching and planning out all the cables I will need to hook up my home theatre equipment and my Time Warner Cable Box. After researching on TW's website I found their guide for hooking up their cable box. They show running (2) video connections from the cable box to the tv or to the receiever then to the tv. One connection using component cables purely for HD channels and a second connection for the regular digital channels via a s-video, composite, or coaxial connection. My question is "Is this really necessary?" I just figured a component connection would take care of all my video needs. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Don't really wanna buy extra cables if I don't have too. Here are the links to Time Warners Install Guides. http://www.timewarnercable.com/kansascity/products/cable/hdtv/hdtvconnections.ht ml http://www.timewarnercable.com/kansascity/products/cable/hdtv/hdtvtheaterconnect ions.html Thanks! |

The only reason to have another connection is for two tuner PIP. Try not to think of regular cable channels as digital. They're not! The cable company may tell you that your service is all digital, but it's absolutely not. Standard definition cable channels are 480i analog coming out of that cable box. Only HD channels are truly 720P or 1080I digital quality from their origin to your home. |
