I have a Gateway laptop that only has the D-sub 15 pin VGA. I want to connect it to my Mitsubishi 55" widescreen HDTV. I have the ATI Radeon 200M Series video card. Can I just buy the product ID 2173 12' VGA to 3 RCA Component Video Cable? http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&style= And then just select "Other monitor" under /Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Displays. Would this work? Again, I apologize in advance because I know this has been posted before. Thanks for your help. |

Your video source should provide a YpbPr Component Video Signal from the HD 15 video ports to use this cable. This cable can not convert the video signal from one type to another. Both devices must be compatible with the same signal. And your Mits doesn't know what to do with a VGA signal. Assuming your video card supports your computer's VGA output, you would need conversion from VGA to component.
