I was trying to watch King Kong, but the picture is really fuzzy. I can see an outline (about a quarter inch) around most images. It's like the image is not lined up properly (a double image or something). I don't know what that means or what could be causing it.
I have a new HDTV (Hitachi 51" RPCRT). OTA HD looks unbelievable, directv HD looks superb using hdmi cable, regular directv channels look pretty good, but my dvds look like crap using component cables. Why would it be blurry but nothing else is? I've tried using an s-video cable, but it made it even more blurry. My dvd player is a home theater all-in-one system. However, it is not progressive scan (I've had it several years now). Could that be the problem? I never had this problem on my old 36" non-HDTV. Is it a problem with the tv?
I'd appreciate any advice any of you could give me. Thanks.
You definitely need a new progressive scanning dvd player. If your Hitachi has HDMI or DVI inputs, get a dvd player with those outputs. A good inexpensive player is one made by Oppo at $199. Panasonic S97 is a good player too, at around $235.
