I have a 30" Sony Trinitron I bought in summer of 99, and tonight the picture isn't working. I get audio through my cable and DVD player but no picture and the setup menu nor the source show up (I could always cycle through the AUX1 and AUX2 sources and they showed up in green letters in the bottom left, even if nothing else was hooked up right.) Also, when turning on the TV it used to do a deep zap like noise (which was normal) and then take a few seconds to heat up; now it doesn't do any zap noise, just turns on and I can hear the audio.
So, anyone think it's the tube or maybe something else that I could actually fix on my own? From reading, it seems that if the tube is dead I'm better off getting a whole new TV, but I'm open to suggestions.
Any and all help is very much appreciated! Also open to TV suggestions in the <$1K range, since I'm thinking I'll be buying a new one this weekend
