Is signal amplifier important ? The (only) cable run into my house is rather long, almost a 150 feet plus from the 2 single legacy LNB dishes (110,119) to the wall is 30 feet, so total is almost 200 feet. However, The signal level is 82-83, quality is 90-99 but I am not sastified since my friend's house which is just nearby has a much better picture even when his level is lower than mine (only 79-80). I have a four way splitter coming out of the FTA output and I suspect that where signal strength is actually dropped. The splitter installed by the builder seems like a good one though. Should I install the signal amplifier between the FTA receiver output and the splitter ? Also, can you suggest some good but affordable signal amplier ? Thanks a lot.

Your cable is too long buddy to old a good signal. The longer cable you have the poorer your quality level will be no matter what the meter says on your receiver. use the signal Amp in two locations to check it for yourself which one will improve your quality level on your TV. Use it once by the dish and if that didn't improve your signal use it after the spliter. You will be very lucky to improve the quality though because 200feet is too long. Get yourself a DIGIWAVE Signal Amp.
By the way, do you live in a castle or what to have that long cable, lol.
