Has anyone gotten DMR-EH50 to work with Dish Network?

I read in my instruction manual that the DMR-EH50 programming guide will work only with a cable box and not Dish Network. Is there any way around this limitation to get it to work? My Dish Network Echostar 301 receiver had a feature that if you click on the program it will automatically send a signal to your VHS video tape recorder to turn it on and record the show you select in the Dish Network menu. Could it also work to turn the EM50 on to record at the correct time?? Very frustrating. I can't believe Panasonic overlooked a feature so obvious for satellite receivers. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Panasonic did not overlook anything. In fact no standalone DVD recorder is designed to work with Sat TV Guide systems although they will all record using the built in manual timer function.
