I have a Philips 42PF9630A Plasma TV. I'm running a HDMI cable from my Comcast SA8300HD box to the TV. Don't know if this matters but I run Digital Audio out of the cable box through my Yamaha receiver (my old receiver can't run anything but S-video, so I run only the audio throught it).
When the TV comes on, I get a message from the cable box saying that the TV is not HDCP compatible. The message usually goes away after a few seconds, and the picture comes on and all is seemingly fine. However, when using the HDMI cable, we have noticed some random problems that does not seem to happen when using Component inputs. For example, we paused a live TV show and then when we un-paused it, the audio stopped working.
I have a few questions:
1. Is the Philips 42PF9630A compatible with HDCP? Is there anyway to find out other than calling Philips? I have looked all over for this info.
2. If the message goes away and the TV comes on - is there a logical reason to have these other random problems?
3. Is this more likely a problem with the cable box or the TV?
I can always just fall back on Component - but I was really hoping to use HDMI.
