the connection from the receiver to my laptop; the only available connections are the printer and monitor. where do i connect the cable on the laptop?

U don't!..U must use a serial port..laptops are not very useful with this hobby..desktop PC's with serial ports are used..

They usually do NOT work...but I have heard a few people say it did work for them..guesss it all depends on your laptop, oper system and your luck!

Any suggestion for a Apple OS X user trying to
upload the newest bin using usb serial adapter?
what program would I use to do this?

I don't think Apple OS is an option..Windows is required..

Nope sorry I can't help U..never heard of that receiver...and if U want starchoice sat TV, its NOT hacked..NOBODY can help U but yourself by READING at various DSS sites,other than here..go where they have a newbie area...www.al7bar.t*k ... (LOL...sending all the good ones to Blacklist, Mr Leaker and TDG)
