I received a DVD recorder as a gift, with the idea that I could record movies on HBO from the digital cable in the family room and watch them using dvd players in other rooms of the house. Now I discover that, thanks to "copy protect," I can only record them in DVD-RAM format, which plays on no other player in the house. I am not a technical person. Can anyone help me, in plain English?
You need a stabilizer. Copy once is supposed to allow you to record the program, but not make a copy of it. Some recorders, Toshiba being one of them, are over sensitive to the protection and won't allow recording at all, except for RAM.
