I have a 42 inch akai that of course has just left warranty and has developed blue lines at the top and red lines at the bottom of the screen. It happens no matter what the input type is. Akai says the convergence board needs to be replaced, but on my dime. Anyone have ideas on what to do besides taking it for service.

With single chip DLP RPTVs you don't have to worry about convergence boards. There isn't the need for them.
And best of all single chip DLPs are actual rear projection sets, which of course is the subject of this board. I'm pretty sure there is a board just for Plasma and LCD flat panel TVs. I'm hoping you bought that cheap plasma at Costco so you can return it because otherwise your great bargain just turned into the worst deal you ever made.
