Bought this 36" Sony a few years ago, it has the PIP feature. It's worked fine up until recently. I've noticed that the on screen menu bar is not completely horizontal, but arches, the same thing with the Picture in Picture feature, the PIP box is not a perfect rectangle, the perimeter outline of the rectangle bends or arches slightly. Anyone know what is causing this and what the repair should run. The set is too heavy to out in a car and will require a home repair visit. Thanks for any advice.

First, try unplugging the set for a few minutes, then plug it back in.
Another thing you could try is degaussing the set (although a set that requires degaussing is usually due to a color purity problem, assuming that the color problem is not from a damaged picture tube).
It may also be possible that the set requires repair that could be as simple as correcting a cold solder joint in the pincushion circuit or something similar. And, you could also ask the repair professional if he is experienced in calibrating convergence and geometry on CRT televisions and ask him to calibrate it to perfection.
As for rates, each shop will vary, so shop around for the cheapest but also make sure that the store and technician are experienced and reputable. - Reinhart
