Anonymous | Can Someone please help me? I am a newbie to the whole FTA thing. I got a new Fortec Lifetime Ultra and I'm trying to get it to work. I followed manual instructions on this site. I then went on the FORTEC website and loaded a BIN file. I then came back here and loaded another BIN file. When I did this, I did get channels to load on 110 and 119. However, only 1 channel, channel 768, a VU channel would show. When I switched to other channels, they would show for a brief second and then switch back to channel 768. I searched for other BIN files on this site and tried loading again. Now the channels load with only audio and an error message saying bad or scrambled channel. Please help me. I'm getting frustrated. Thank you for your help. |

Silver Member Username: Thill1951akalkPost Number: 676 Registered: Oct-05 | Sounds like U don't even have your dish aimed correctly...VU is Bev which is 82 or 91, not 110 or 119..U might be just getting a TRUE FTA bev channel..start all over and SLOWLY read the SIMPLE set up guides..If U're aimed at bev, U will never get any channels (except what u got now) align dish factory flash bin, remote menu config Installation/disque and antenna config set default keys latest flash bin, scans watch TV.. |

Anonymous | Thank you very much for your advise thrill. I followed your instructions but still could not get my lifetime ultra box to work. I aligned the dish which shows to be getting signal from Echo 6, 8 and 7. I loaded the factory flash bin from the FORTEC website, went menu configurations, searched for the satellite signals I needed, installed a17bar FTA ultra_051106_284Ex_NTSC, scanned for channels( found over 400 channels). Here's the set back though. Anytime I click on a channel, the box works as if it's searching for the channel, a weird number like 8 shows on the box, then a fizzy screen shows up for about 5seconds, and then I'm back to a blank screen. It's like the box is rebooting or something, but I can't watch anything. I'm sorry to sound so ignorant about all of this, but I just started operating this box yesterday, and I know even less than a novice. What am I doing wrong? I'm willing to learn but I don't know where to start. Please help. Anyone? |

Anonymous | Thrill, What I noticed is that when I tell the box to scan just FTA channels, it will scan and get only like 4 channels that I can view. However, when I tell it to scan all, it scans and gets the satellite channels, but they wont view, but do what I described above. It's like the box is not descrambling or something.Please help. |
