Hi. I have a Hitachi 51F510 51 inch rear projection t.v. with HDMI input. I'm trying to pair it with a Samsung DVD-HD841 upconversion player with a DVI output. I'm using a HDMI to DVI monster cable for the video and the picture is pretty clear. The audio is hooked up through the red and white rca cables. According to the t.v.'s manual, this should work. The audio isn't working at all. I called Hitachi and the one "tech" I got didn't seem to know much. I tried the audio menus on the TV and the DVD player, with no luck. Does anyone have experience with such an audio problem? I also have a monster component, but would rather remain all digital from start to finish. Any help is much appreciated.

Use a figital audio cable from the DVD player to your display. Normally that is the only output enabled when an HDMI/DCI cable is detected on an upconverting player.
Keep in mind you are sacrificing DD5.1 sound even if you got the RCA cables to work.

figital should read digital, like an optical toslink cable or a coax cable.
