Sounds like a dumb question, but how do you know if your picture tube is blown? I can see images on the screen, but it's a very dark picture. Adjusting the contrast/brightness controls doesn't work. My model is a Toshiba about 2 yrs old, flat screen, #32AF43. Any advice before I get raked over the coals by a repairman?

It could be a failure of the picture tube if it were defective to begin with. But, I'm more inclined to believe that something in the mainboard, like the jungle chip, has suffered a failure.
