I have put a deposit on the Samsung HLR6178W which is a DLP with 1080p resolution. Won't get it for 3-4 weeks & can cancel at any time. Since I put the deposit down Mitsubishi has come out with their 1080p set & Plasma prices have been dropping. I am starting to question my decision. Should I go smaller (50" vs 61") and go Plasma? Is the Mits better than the Sammy? For an investment of $4,000 I want to get the best thing possible & am concerned about being disappointed in the picture quality. I have digital cable now & will get a Denon AV rec with Polk surround system 5.1
Stick with the Samsung 1080p, you won't be dissapointed. What I've seen of the Mitsubishi DLPs leaves me very much unimpressed. Our demo is constantly shutting itself off and has to be reset. The fact that the rest button is so easy to reach makes me think they knew this would be a recussing problem. And plasma is for people who have to have a TV over their fireplace like the people on TV or they will die.
