You guys really enjoy posting answers without ANY knowledge whatsoever of what you write about... Incredible!

After the Dreambox, the Viewsat VS2000 is probably the most advanced, fastest and best equipped FTA box out there today.

It would serve you well to do a little more research before babbling like 2-year-olds and misleading people with WRONG answers.

As a brand new FTA box, the VS2000 is still in the process of constant renovation through an exceptional technical support. A firmware software update will be available very soon to add the 'blind scan' feature you ask about. However, for most of you 'Charlie freeTVers,' the blind scan is not vital, as it is for the true FTA users... and the FTA users are still a minority, for sure.
I hope this answers your sly question, Anonymous. Now, get back to watching your free TV...

if you check the specs on viewsat and cool-sat you will see they are priced about the same and both have on screen guide, but the viewsat has a built in card reader, the cool-sat does not, you will have to buy it for an extra $60 or $70 , also the viewsat has a faster processor and double the memory, but this is only a factor if using it for free fta channels, view sat does not have blind scan as of yet, cool-sat does but again only a factor if using it for free fta channels, cool-sat seems to be pushing their reciever more than viewsat so the more people testing that particular reciever the better and faster the hacks will come, personaly i think either 1 is a good choice if you can get a good deal on it,

i am not absolutly sure about the viewsat platinum but i believe it is the same reciever just silver in color not black, i havent seen the specs yet but it is priced the same as the black

coolsatpro4000 is best; it is verey easy to setup get signal strenght and quality. Other brand take too long to get signal. It also work with 3 lnb directtv dish mash. Just load newest firmware; voila you get all disknetwork channels local, x, ppv's.

New features in Viewsat Platinum are an on-off switch in the back, optical audio output and silver colored box. Basically same innards as the current VS2000. Blind scan feature will come for both very soon as a SOFTWARE update. All in all, a great receiver with excellent tech. support and response times for fixes. I think it will outshine every other FTA after the BS issue is resolved, except perhaps for the very expensive and user-unfriendly, high-tech DreamBox. Only time will tell...

ReneB if your gonna get a viewsat just know that it doesn't have blind scan, therefore you will have to use a ch.list.and if your using dishpro lnbs. then you have to use DP ch.list.

Viewsat VS2000 Platinum

The VS2000 model is the #1 free to air satellite receiver in the USA.

MPEG-2 is a worldwide satellite transmission standard for digital broadcasting. It is the wave of the future, because of the simple economics that can allow 8 or even 10 video signals to occupy the same space as one channel of analog transmission. Just as some analog signals can be scrambled for subscription use, digital channels can be transmitted either scrambled or in-the-clear. In-The-Clear is known in the digital TV world as FTA or Free-To-Air. Since it is a worldwide standard, there are more MPEG-2/DVB (digital video broadcasting) channels available in places such as Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, than presently found in the American market. National public broadcasters in other parts of the world have adopted MPEG-2 as a cost-effective way to distribute their signals on limited budgets. Viewtech, Inc. brings you the number 1 FTA reciever in North America.

"rock" them?..like keep hitting channel/select buttons?...maybe use a new bin from another source..

BTW...coolsat4000 has a problem at Custom Dept...not allowed in US now due to lack of a license for the Dolby..but will probably be resolved soon..

Yes back and forth until channel comes in. Sometimes it never does come in. Know of 4 diff. receivers that have this same problem. ANy suggestions? Have tried 2 diff. bins same result.

I do know that there WERE a few channels on a couple transponders (Disney etc)that were sometimes very hard to get the frequency and U had to rock the channels to get them in...maybe the latest bin and channel changes on transponders
lately have caused that same previous problem (which did go away) to recur...

I hear Viewsat has a card reader. I just got my vs2000 platinum today and don't know where to find it. There is a thin slot in the middle and then there is a door at the lower right corner that looks like a sealed up slot (upgradable) that says X crypt. The box it came with doesn't mention anything about the card reader. Does anyone know which is the card reader if one is included?

Thanks!

Incredible Adult Pay TV with the use of this 14 month satellite access card and the Coolsatt 4000 card reader.

If you own a Coolsatt 4000 (Plus or Pro) and have a 33" dish with an FTA LNBF, then your in luck!!

You can now purchase a package that includes the card reader and a pre-paid 14 months of incredible Free-X TV programming with this access card.
No electronics experience necessary to install. If you can use a screw driver and plug the pre-fitted power end into the space inside, you are done.

FREE-X TV was launched in October 2003 and replaced the channel known as No Zap which had already established itself as a brand name in the adult marketplace by attracting many viewers all over Europe. It is now available in North America as with the use of a 33" dish, FTA LNBF, and a FTA receiver with a smart card slot like the Pansat 3500S, Viewsat VS2000, or a card reader upgraded Coolsatt 4000 (Plus or Pro)

FREE-X TV offers a free and permanent access to 24/7 broadcast of hardcore erot ic movies covering all genres: Straight, Fetichism, Interracial, Lesbo, Org ies, Pornstars, Double Penetration, Threesomes, Asian, AnalSex, Big Breasts, Small Breasts, Facial Cumshots, and many more...

On FREE-X TV, we broadcast only movies, in all genres and from diverse origins. We believe broadcasting sex movies from Europe, Asia, and America ... brings our viewers the diversity they are looking for and give some even more pleasure. In addition, the movies are shown in the language they were filmed in ... for more cultural pleasures! And, we show REAL SEX WITH REAL WOMEN.

There is one brand new movie every day shown at about 9pm. And there's no repeat in the same day!! Now, that's what we call diversity.

This prepaid subscription card is non-refundable. Please ensure that your receiver works with this card before purchasing. I know the Coolsatt 4000 works. This card is the Cyrptoworks (X-Crypt) Encryption version.

Please write to me...

Please Foolsat is owned by Eric Jin in SF Calif
John from Viewsat use to work for Eric Jin and after finding out hes a bad business man and over all not that smart he stared his own FTA company. The Viewsat was not his box but unipines the company that makes the orasat.

Orasat is faster and better then both foolsat and viewsat check the info on it and you will see i own both viewsat is a great unit can do some stuff foolsat can not but foolsat is easyer and has better picture.

Orasat 5.0 beats them both hands down.

Orasat has the soon to be doomed STi5518 (81mhz)processor where the Viewsat has the 160mhz conexant processor
Orasat's Memory : SDRAM 8MB
Viewsat's Memory : SDRAM 16MB

Orasat is not faster, so you should step up on your learning, anyone who buys a new fta receiver should get the fastest processor they can or their machine will not be able to keep up with Charlie's new ECM strategies. Get a VIEWSAT or DREAMBOX or something as fast.

its viewsat or orasat if you smart.

the viewsat has 100hz true not 140 like it says try clocking it.

orasat has 80 true.

i own them both they each have a lot of features viewsat is a good unit i like it a lot but same with the orasat. The only thing is the orasat has better picture sound and VERY easy to setup soo easy i love it.

viewsat or orasat you are in good hands for sure.
if you want really easy one go with orasat. if you want cheaper one go with viewsat.

ORASAT IS CRAP

lies lies lies
Viewsat = 160 MHz not 100hz stop bullsh!tting people.
Stop pushing this Orasat garbage.
The C00LSat 5000 due for release will destroy this orasat crap. Orasat has basically no support at all. Just wait till the next ECM and see how your Orasat support is.
You are the same guy in all these threads just trying to sell Orasats. You obviously need the help or you wouldn't be spamming on every thread that talks about receivers. Stop being so desperate and just leave these forums.
Down with ORASAT- it just plain sucks.

U will have to align the dish, after U put the TWIN (its not a DUAL) LNB in...

a Dual only picks up 1 satellite but can be hooked to 2 receivers

a Twin picks up 2 satelites and can also be used by 2 recivers.

also pick up a Dish Pro Twin LNB...then U won't need the disque switch between the LNB's and reciver...the Dish Pro Twin LNB's already has the built in disque switches

There is a lengthy conversation and info with pictures reagarding the twim, dual, dish pro and alignment in a Fortec Ultra" thread here...U should read it..your receiver type doesn't matter reagarding this...as long as U are talking about an FTA receiver..

SAT-SALES.COM is a scam site. They claim to sell you Viewsat platinum and instead send you a cheap receiver. My friend bought what he thought was a Viewsat and to his surprise his receiver said "FTA" on it which he then found out it was a BLACKBIRD ST1000. Always make sure what you buy and whom you buy from. There are Many scam sites out there.

I have been researching for the past 2 weeks. The ViewSat Platnum seems to be the most bang for the buck currently out there. The only one that may be better sounds like the dreamBox, however it sounds to be a pain to set up and the cost difference is not justified. The Foolsat 4000, I have seen complaints about the picture freezing.
I own neither, but will wait about 2 more weeks to see if anything better is spit out into the market, if not, I will go with the Viewsat.
Best of luck: Bob

well, in my opinion...and I do own both....Viewsat is far better unit than the coo*lsat. The viewsats epg works about 20 times better than the coolsats ... It flashes much faster also, this is mainly due to the fact that it has a faster processor.

Never heard of a paid membership to dsscentral, and I've used it for close to 2 years now.

Dsscentral .net>File Archive>Free To Air>C00lsat>400 Plus and Pro

Download "C00lSat_Pro Loader_v2.2" and "C00LSAT4000_134p_20050915".

Use the loader and upload the C00LSAT4000_134p_20050915 bin to your box.

If you need more help, in that same section download "c00lsat-beginners-class".

Thanks for all the Information H3lt3r_sk3lt3r.

Now I got several questions regarding Dish Network.

I got a Viewsat Vs 2000 Platinum.
The Configuration of my system is somewhat different of what I ve seen on USA . First. I got dish 500, but instead of 1 dish I have to use 2 dishes. Do I have to do any special arrangemet on my antenas in order to be able to get all the channels? Also, is it possible to receive channels other than Dish Networks Offering? Do I have to move the antenna to point other way in order to do so?

@JavierPR25

You would configure the sat settings on your receiver the same way you would configure dish500, because the coax from 2 lnbs is still going through a switch.

It is possible to receive other FTA channels, and yes you would have to point your dish to those satellites.

viewsat platinum hands down; can run with legacy twin, no problem, can enter keys manually when it changes; CS has problems, cant enter manually; they reset to old keys automatically.

HI:

I got the viewsat vs 2000 platinum up and running I uploaded the latest bin I could get
On some channels it says I need a Second dish to view the channel, but I got 2 dishes 1 lnb on each
also most of the time it stays on searching signal and couldn't get to view anything. Sometimes I turn it off and then on and on some ocassions I can see the channel

the Viewsat came with a disec switch, but can I use the one dish network installed or I must change the the switch to the disec?

Any suggestions?

The Viewsat plat is my choice, although I`ve only owned c@@lsat for a short time. The viewsat has a few frills that aren`t even mentioned in the specs, such as 4,6,9 field of pip`s, its great you can jump from one pic to another, also has zoom and I`m still finding attributes. Simple to set up, even I did it, with help from this site.
