I recently took the 40 GB hard drive out of my Samsung DVR and installed it my PC. Like others that have tried this, my PC would not recognize the new drive. That is because it does not contain a standard (if any) partition. After poking around the 'net for a while, I stumbled onto a free piece software on the Maxtor website called MaxBlast4. It contains utilities to format and partition drives (among other tasks). It will recognize the DVR drive IF it is a Maxtor Drive. Run the software and select the option to add a partition to the DVR drive. MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T SELECT YOUR C: DRIVE BY MISTAKE. It took a minute to partion the DVR drive with NTFS and now I have another 40GB of PC storage!
