ConfusedGlobalCitizen Unregistered guest | I am currently living in the US, and would like to buy an LCD TV that will be compatible with PAL/I when I return to South Africa next year. When I am in South Africa I would obviously not use the TV's built-in tuner (which will be NTSC), but will use the tuner in my South African satellite box. Would this work? If so, would only certain TV's apply (I am looking at a Sharp Aquos). If the TV I bought had an ATSC tuner, would that make any difference? |

You need a PAL TV or a multi-format TV, which isn't very easy to find in the U.S. Unless the satellite outputs NTSC, then it will work. |
ConfusedGlobalCitizen Unregistered guest | What about ATSC? Would that work in PAL land? Per Wikipedia - (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATSC) "The system includes the capability to carry PAL- and SECAM-format video (576 displayable lines, 50 fields per second) along with NTSC (480 displayable lines, 60 fields per second) and film (24 frames per second)" |
