If we can gather data on the 253 bin, in terms of the processor and TSOP chip in the IRD, we can begin to see if there is a set of chips with which it will work.
Got the file.
Will the gentlemen above me, Tell us which real pansats and fortecs have blown since this 253 was released very recently, how long they ran, and which chip sets were fitted.
Everyone should be putting about 30-60 CFM of air thru the cabinet of these IRDs for good practice.
Best regards

Rank heresay attributed to BL (whoever that is), suggests that it will not damage a "Genuine" Pansat 2500A (whatever that is).

Dear Friends:
We are closing in on this. My "Pansat 2500A" has the following chip set. The IRD is "Genuine" by all indications. This chipset is very common:
STi 5518 BVC 39VF800A 70-4C-EK
If the 253 bin will keep one of these IRDs working for a few days, with good ventilation, we will begin to feel safe.
Who will be the first of us to flash the 253 bin on an IRD with the above chipset , and share our results?
best regards

Vewy Vewy Wary: Why don't "we" try it on "your" IRD and share "our" result, Smartazz? "You" could be "our" hero, say, if it works...
Many bad/negative reports and posts about this new bin already...just like the 251...some say OK,but many are already having problems...this is called "TESTING"...use at your own risk!

253 bin is even advertised as a CLONE killer!
2500A Improved SW Version will be released 09.09.05
3:00PPM Pacific time, 6:00Eastern time.
The new bin file will not damage any Pansat Receievers unless if its clones. Please downoad the file .253 to be safe. All clones will be kill on this version too, DO NOT DOWNLOAD ON CLONES:!!!!! Enjoy Your TV
Put a heat sink on your large chipset...sti5518bvc Use the one you can find in an old computer heat sink...now my chip set runs cooler now on n2 then with n1 bin file....I have loaded the 251 n2 bin file and my 2500a works better now then before.... Hope this helps people keep them from burning them up...
bin 253....has fixed the Freezing problem....but in order to do that u have to upload with Factory bin 222 and then load it with 253...no frezzing and no glitches...but sTILL No P0RN....check and it works with REAL PANSAT!!! i tried it and been on since last night...nothing has happend to it yet...

Dear Friends:
"Not Everyone's Momma Was as Dumb as His" isn't very helpful, is he or (it)? He AZZUMES too little. Measuring by his own stick, probably.
My Pansat with the above listed chipset, has been running now for about 27 hrs, with the big RS AC powered 65 CFM fan. Fine, but look for many more channels to drop til the 102, 103 card is cracked.
Ur mom, will u pls list your TSOP also for us too, if you are testing the bin, so your data can help?
That other "Wary one" who posted the note with the link, and describing his -70 TSOP was obviously not me because you know I have the -4C-EK TSOP but afraid they are very similar, and certainly not the faster 90 series.
best regards to all, event to those mommas, etc.

P.S.
Will everyone with a 251 or 253 bin running for a while, pls list your chipset including the processor and the TSOP?

for every one that has the knight rider effect after flashing with 251 bin, use firmware upgrade bin 224 then load n2 bin 253 (make sure to extract file first)
tried out 251 bin many times and get the knight rider effect but repaired it each time with firmware upgrade 224.
dont know what chipset i have but it is manufactured august 2004
mines running 2 days so far with no ill effects. waiting for a few more days if something happens

Vewy Vewy Wary: Look at me when I'm talking to you, you chicken sh*t. Why do you care if yours has been running for so long? Go sit down in your little hole and watch your stupid TV. I'm not in the business of testing these things, I could careless if you burn up your mother's azz with the software. I was just happen to scan for information on the chip I use at work and came across your post - didn't know how low some people can go...
Just having a little fun, that's all. Good luck to all you TV viewers with the same purpose.
package i got it in was white with blue letters and sh*t
i also have the vinle film on the unit with the "i don't know" long air vents with roundish ends.
my nerve pills just kicked in so i don;t give a f*ck who flames me.
so my ? is do i or don't i have a genuine 2500a. if i do have a genuine then i will do the heat sink thing and display my resaults as well because is is logical to cool the chip.
thnx

There is no difference in the channels or EPG etc...Basically they are the exact same bin....253 is just newer and allegedly stops the freezing that is common with the 251 bin..both bins will damage/corrupt clones and originals, depending upon which chips (tsops..70's or 90's) U have in your receiver..

ur momma and others:
The following statement is from the manufacturer itself.
Summary of Counterfeit Product Characteristics
 Pansat does not make or sell 3000 series products. Thus, any and all products sold with Pansat 3000 model are counterfeit satellite receivers.
 The paint color on counterfeit satellite receivers is greenish silver. There is a noticeable difference in the color of the top cover when compared to the front panel's color. Authentic Pansat satellite receivers are produced in a "Sony silver" color.
 A vinyl protection sheet, which is typically adhered to the top of the satellite receiver, is missing in the counterfeit product. Authentic products always have a protective vinyl sheet applied to them in case of damage during transportation.
 Counterfeit receivers have top cover ventilation holes which are noticeably square shaped rather than a smooth, round shape as the authentic model has.
 The bottom chassis of counterfeit receivers are flat whereas authentic receivers have several more, upward-punched, square shaped holes.
 Counterfeit models have a sticker label listing UL (safety standard) and FCC compliance on the back panel. Sticker label format has been discontinued and is no longer used to list UL and FCC compliance. Authentic models have a UL & FCC clause directly printed onto the metal on the back of the receiver and should be accompanied by a small sticker indicating the month of the product's manufacture (e.g. Sep. 2004 -- (SB)).
 A serial number is not attached on both the gift box and the unit (back or bottom) on counterfeit satellite receiver models. It appears as an alpha-numeric listing such as "4G4- " on the FCC sticker label. There is a possibility that a completely fake serial number may be created and attached on counterfeit units in the future. Authentic Pansat satellite receivers will list an eight ( digit serial number consisting of year, month, unit sequence & other numbers and is located on the bottom of the receiver chassis and on the top side of gift box.
info so far: This "Panster 251 Virus" is focused on the TSOP. If you have a TSOP 29LV800BTC-70 or a 39VF800A70-4C-EX CHIP on your mainboard you are a target. If you have a 29LV800BTC-90 you are ok. Simply put.. if you have a -90 Series TSOP you should be OK.
Assuming U have a genuine (not cloned) receiver, and U put the factory bin or boot repair file on first, before U ever load ANY newer bin/flash on to your receiver..
New member-as of today. Read the posts and decided to try the 253 bin on P'sat 2500A(useless anyway w/o the modifications). I did two things to keep it from burning the chip. I took the advice of "hangon" and installed a heat sink from an old 486 computer using heatsink compound and then I took a 5/8" dowell rod and cut four pieces 1 1/2" long, painted them silver (to match P'sat) and velcro'd them on the bottom of P'sat giving me the 1 1/2" clearance so air would flow more readily. I have been going for over an hour now and no appreciable heat coming from box and I'm getting everything except p'rn-my wife is happy about that!! No guarantees but it's working for me--if she blows I'll post but I don't think she is going to do so.

Just like a stray cat if u feed her she comes back don't reply!!! cuz then you hurt the forum just like she is trying 2 do.. if you stop feeding her she will find another place 2 eat..
There is no fan--as you know heat rises and as it does it pulls fresh air in from the bottom unless the ports are blocked-the four legs help there (I think so anyway). I am still running (almost 4 hours now)and pulling in everthing except the aforementioned channels. If anyone feels a fan is necessary, Radio Shack has a thin 110v fan that will fit either on top or on the bottom in the 1 1/2" space provided by legs. My P'sat 2500A is not a clone-that apparently makes a difference also. Enjoy TV. I have two questions--(1)how do I keep my name off the posts? How do you sign out of the site?-I can't find a"Log-out" icon

I am glad Jim took my suggestion on my heatsink. He did what I did on Sept.5 and my 2500A is still working and not freezing on the 251 bin...I got bashed several times and told me I was crazy....I guess crazy like a fox....I used a heat sink from a 286 it is a little shorter....Hope this helps.

Heat sink still working on P'sat 2500a with 253 bin--it has not been turned off but once for about a minute in last 48+ hours to see of it would "blow the chip" and it hasn't. Genuine 2500 with "sti 551 8 bvc" chip. Rest easy and enjoy that TV! Let's go down to the swamp and watch the VOLS take on the Gators!

Has anybody tried the following on a Pansat 2500 - I have heard it unlocks the porns as well:
IMPORTANT: JUST REMEMBER TO FLASH UNIT BACK TO ORIGINAL BIN FIRST, THEN WRITE THE FIX!!!! (I have a feeling this is why so many had to J-Tag their irds in the first place)
...may want to wait for even more confirmation but this one I understand IS WORKING WELL.
