Hi: does anyone have experience with playing dvd-r's on samsung dvdv-5500 combo? dvd-r's are burnt on pioneer dvr-rt500. In the samsung dvdv-5500 manual they say `dvd-r's may not be playable' etc, but this is not too helpful ...
May I ask which dvd/vcr combo players are the best in terms of consistently playing dvd-r's as well as standard dvd-videos? dvd-r's are burnt on pioneer dvd recorder/vcr dvr-rt500. I did some research on the web but could not find anything consistent there either ...
You can't find anything consistent because combos are junk, buy seperate.

Again, thanks for your advice! Maybe you could tell me which dvd-players you would prefer? I am interested in a reliable and not so expensive dvd player which would consistently play dvd-r's (I am dubbing lots of home videos onto dvd-r's using pioneer recorder dvr-rt500).
I use 2 JVC XV-N410B players. Pretty much all that I play is DVD-R, once in awhile an RW or a factory disc. It plays flawlessly every time, and I use it pretty heavily. That's last years model, it's 510 or 512 or something now.
