I just got my new Sony WEGA 60" LCD tv. My dvd player is pretty old and does not have progressive scan. If I buy a new dvd player with progressive scan, will I be able to notice the difference between interlaced and progressive on my dvds?

Progressive should definately give you a better picture quality. Find a good quality player and you should be satisfied for years to come. You might want to consider the notion of blueray and HD-DVD coming out within the next year. This allows twice as much data to be encoded on a single disc, more audio data, more video data better quality. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

You need a digital or HDTV to use progressive. With a good TV and DVD player it makes a pretty big difference.
