Getting my laptop to talk to my LG 42in plasma

Just bought a an LG 42in Plasma television that I want to *occassionally* use as a monitor for my laptop (games, presentations, bs-ing, etc). I'm not trying to run the laptop as a media centre, I just want the big screen.

LG says it should just plug and play, so I've plugged in a 15-pin monitor cable and...nothing.

I'm sure this is an easy thing to address, I'm just a little stupid.

thoughts?

Am on an HP Compaq nc6000 notebook running windows XP. Have set the external monitor to 1028x768 and 60Hz refresh rate. Video card seems to be ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600 Series.

I assume you have set up the laptop correctly (right click on display, select setting, click on Display 2, make it active and select "extend display ...", then go into Advanced and select it as the main display). The rest is select input of the LG to the PC input (whatever it is). I have done the same to my Panasonic RP-LCD. Be ware, I am concerned about Plasma Burn-in effect worsen by the PC background if used a long time. That's why I bought RP-LCD instead. I actually use my Panasonic RP-LCD as my only monitor hooked to my PC which served as Media Center including as a Tivo as well.

Brian, are you pleased with the LG? I am considering the 50PX5D. What do you see as your pros and cons about your LG?
