Ok, I just found this site yesterday and I am reading thru every topic atm. However, more I read I am getting more confused.

Before I found this site, I was going to buy Sony KF60WE610 or maybe XBR version. But now I heard there's bulb and noisy problem with these model, I am not sure if I should buy one.

What is your recommendation? Did sony fixed this issue on newer model?

I compared Samsung and other production with Sony, I still think Sony got the better quality. I am very very confused.

check out the panasonic pt60lc13. if you are
previewing a HDTV make sure they have a good HD
feed and the TV isnt on torch mode, brightness turned way up. (for a rp LCD this is normal mode)

I would avoid the LCD. The dead pixel problem is real. Go for the sammy DLP instead. Either pick one up now, they are making deals on them, or wait a few months for the new models.

i saw a dead pixel once. at circuit c. not on
my set. go to the store and compare a panny RP LCD
with any other tv. then make your decision. i passed on a mits crt (crt PQ is superior-not)i love my LCD, even if the lamp were to burn out tommorrow.

I got mine w/ 2 dead pixel after a month and a half wait (70XBR950) and spread to about 11. Service tech said they have issues on this TV but will replace some sort of a board inside to fix it but since this is new, I opted for replacement and wait another who knows how long so swap it w/ a DLP Sharp projector.

is that the 70" sony ? I almost got that 1
but it isnt pc compat. good luck with the
2nd 1. Its like buying a car, hopefully u
wont get a lemon.

Yeah, it's the 70" Sony XBR950 LCD and that's the biggest I could get for my budget. Unfortunately I got a lemon but the picture quality and a lot of features like Sony's DRC (WE610 LCD models don't have this features) makes it better than the Sam HLN617W DLP that I swap (w/c is also defective) in my oppinion. It's not PC compatible and there was a warning on the manual that if you hook up a comp, they won't honor the warranty but I don't know if my extended plan would . It cost as much as a compact car but you won't believe how much it cost me to set up my whole system from scratch in just 2 weeks ($20,000 +)

you spent more on your sound system than your
tv, lol. i paid 4750 for my 60"
(tax & stand) and another 300 for a yamaha 5740
and 150 for a set of klh 7.1 speakers. Now all
i need is a pair of home theater chairs. it looks
and sounds pretty good for a "budget" set-up.

well it is too much for a home theatre but rather than wait for another month and a half and since I only got 10% on the Sony, I decided to get a Sharp projector and got a 17.8% discount w/c I think is better than the discount on the Sony w/c my sales guy can't go lower on the Sony cause he'll loose his licence. so this is my equipment right now.
Sharp XV-Z10000 ($7999) for $6640.00
extended warranty ($999) for $699.00
Draper Onix 92" fix mount for $1214.00
Denon 2200 ($599) for $469.00
B&K Ref 50 ver. 1.04 ($2999) for $1360.49
B&K 7270 7 channel 200 watts ($2799) for $1838.51
Def Tech BP2002TL ($2200/pair) for $1800
extended warranty for $140/pair
Def Tech CLR2002 ($499) for $425.00
Def Tech BPX ($1800/4 pair) for $1440.00
Monter Power Surge HTS3600 for $499
Monster Z series cables, interlink 400mkII interconnect, lock tips and y cables for $750.00
Yamaha 1400 for the loving wife ($799) for $679.95
extended plan for $109.95
stand ($399) for $329.00
everything plus tax and brand new at an authorize dealer
I know this is not the best but the discount is hard to pass up and it makes me happy everytime my wife and 3 yr old son watch there favorite movies

impressive set-up tho i dont know what half of
that stuff is. Curious about the Yamaha extended
warranty, cause Yamaha has a 2 yr warranty on
home audio. I myself avoid extended warranties
cause I would be paying for a repair that I might
not need. Even tho the look on the CSR face is like I'm taking food out of the mouth of their baby. I bet when you crank up your home theater
the windows rattle.

yeah, back in FL, my ex system rattled my 2 windows up in the bonus room so I took them out and put a grease on those spring and it did the job so same here in CO. regarding warranty, I'll get 1/2 of it if I don't use it by the end of 5 yrs or roll it over for another extended warranty.
