JVC TV and Pro Scan DVD incompatible?

Please help! We have a 3 yr. old JVC TV & the book says do not use a progressive scan DVD player with it. We need a DVD recorder & can't find one without pro-scan. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch!!

Progressive scan can be turned on/off. You can use any player/recorder.
