I have been looking for a 50" plasma, I missed the chance to pick up a Philips 50inch HDTV at bestbuy for $3400 it was a open box. I went back a couple of days later and it was gone. Any way I have been surfing the web looking for a 50" Plasma within my budget of $3500, the one that caught my eye is at Costco.com which is a brick and morter store in my state, but I have not seen this Optoma 50" picture on display anywhere. So before I purchase I would like to know if anyone has seen the quality of the picture. I would hate to buy it online only to find out it's picture quality is very poor,(for example the picture quality on the Maxent MX-42XM11 is not very good) I have seen this one for myself. So if anyone has any info please share it with me.
Thanks Shadow X

Shadow X,
This Optoma PD50A is overstock Optoma sold to Costco last year along with RD65A {DVI-D Non-HDCP} and a few RD65H {DVI-D w/ HDCP} DLPs. The Panel is a 6th generation from Panasonic and the DVI-D is HDCP compliant.
Costco will be selling them only thru their website, no warehouses. The PD50A does not include the stand or speakers, you'll need to get thouse directly from Optoma if you are planning to set in on a table.
Unfortunately, it's very rare to find Optomas on any B&M or locate a CEDIA member showroom in your area that sells them. The good thing is you are getting it from Costco, if you don't like it, just re-pack it and take it back to your local Costco for a full refund.
Thanks Perrey Z. Do you think it would be worth getting or wait for either my budget to increase or prices to fall on other models.

Shadow X,
The price is excellent for a 50" and gettinig it from a retailer like Costco makes the deal even better. The prices will slowly drop, not as low as this deal, but in the $3,500-$4,000. range.
My suggestion is keep saving that money and keep checking the prices., price drops occur every 4-months. By December, if you have save about $7,000.00 you might be able to get a 55" Hitachi HDX62 Director's Series or a 50" Pioneer Elite 1130.
