I recently purchased a 37" sharp aquos lcd tv. Have the tv hooked up to an explorer 8300 HD DVR box. Initally was using component video and the picture looked great on the HD channels and not so good on the standard definition channels. Bought a high quality HDMI cable and hooked the TV up using that. Now the standard definition channels look much better. The HD channels still look good but the colors do not seem to be as crisp as when I was using component. Has any one else experienced this with HDMI ? Any ideas on how to improve the picture quality with the hdmi setup ? I may just need to fiddle with some settings but as of now I would definitely say that the picture quality with my setup is better using component....

Try adjusting the settings on the TV and the HD DVR box for the HDMI input. If that doesn't improve the color quality, then unplug them and connect the HDMI cable first, then plug them back.

I unplugged the HDMI last night, rebooted the cable box, then went through the setup again. After completing the setup, turned on the TV and it looked great. Something must have went wrong the first time I went through the setup. The picture is now very crisp with the HDMI. It is definitely better then when using the component cables.
