The 32FST1D has a 30" Viewable area., in Asia they measure the case as part of the screen size.

The U.S. model is the DU-30FY10 and should be released in the 3Q of this year with a MSPR of $1,299.00.

I am confused. Is this the one we are talking about:
http://www.superslim.com/superslim/home.html
or is it this one:

Are those the same tv, just in a different package?

First link is one of the many preliminary factory prototypes.

Second link appears to be the actual design.

Making CRTs popular instead of further developing plasma?, this says alot from these two flat panel leaders., it's almost like they have no faith in the plasma and LCD technologies.

Well, maybe they want a second time around to prove to the world they {Samsung and LG} can also make good quality CRT sets., in the past during the era of tube TVs Samsung and GoldStar were considered to be the worst manufacturers of tube sets.

if this was only 34" it would be a no-brainer. Even with 30" I think is worth it. Then 2-3 years from now I can get an LCD or whathever they will be selling in 3 years (maybe plasma will be completly out) - by that time the price will drop and the PQ will go up. I just cannot spend 3K on a LCD technology that still has a long way to go. I really think that LCD will replace plasma in the next few years.

You've mentioned you have very limited space and a 37" will be the best thing for your location., so, have you considered a Westinghouse 37" LCD monitor? they have a new one coming out to replace the current LVM-37w1. and the retail price should be around $1,499.99 and $1,999.99.

The new model has a 12 ms response time., 1,920 X 1,080p native resolution., 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 17-million colors, {don't know how that will help in the purchase decision, but...} 2-DVI inputs. and 1-VGA among the regular ones. {excluding the RF coaxial.}

I'm assuming the replacement model resolves all the previous issues with the DVI inputs and their HDCP compliant problem.

At this point i don't know what else to suggest.

I saw that model at several sites - I just don't trust Westinghouse - to me this is non-brand name product and I am trying to keep out of non-brand name products - I just had bad experiences in the past. But I have to agree the parameters look impressive, it even has the "real HDTV" 1080p. I will read some more and try to see it somewhere in my area.

When is this coming out? Days or months away?

Westinghouse Digital is not the most reliable company for keeping release dates accurate., take a look at these press releases;

From the manufacturer's website;
http://www.westinghousedigital.com/press/062805.shtml

Now take a look at this one...
http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/flatscreen_news_story_75.htm

The official manufacturer's press release re-introduce the current 37" model as a new totally new model??? adn there' no mention of another new one... what's up with that?

But press release at the HDTV Solutions site, has the same press released, however, it does mention the correct new model number which is LCM-37W1.

BTW; the press released i've read was the one from the HDTV solutions site.

you see - that's why I don't like Westinghouse. On top of that Westinghouse was bought by Siemens. I worked for Siemens for few years and was laid off - so I am not going to support that company in any way....:-)

In Europe Fujitsu and Siemens have a joint venture to produce certain product lines for that region, one of the lines is their own flat panels named MYRICA., they are not related to Fujitsu's own Plasmavision line-up and are not manufacture by Hitachi.

The last thing i've heard was that Siemens sold their cellular phone business to BenQ and extended limited trademark rights for 5-years to market phones using the Siemens brand.

Nowadays Westinghouse is just a namebrand own by the media comglomerate Viacom., they license the brand to Salton-Maxim {kitchen appliances}, Chi Mei Optoelectronics {these TVs}, Angelo Bros. {ceiling fans} and a few others to market their own products under the brand., Viacom acquire Westinghouse when they bought CBS.

Maybe you are correct - I think it was Nixdorf and Stromberg Carlson that have to do with Siemens, not Westinghouse...
