I live in Manahattan and get an HD rcvr with digital cable, so I don't need an HD tuner built in the TV. If I did, I would be buying the Sharp AQUOS L32D5U. Any feedback on the 32 in LCD selection is welcome. What about extended warranties, are they worth it? I over heard some employees at a video store saying they are a waste of money Regards, Cademartori |
Perrey Z. Unregistered guest | From a owner of a Samsung and Panasonic LCDs I suggest get the Samsung. Panasonic lacks the VGA input so you cannot use it as a PC monitor., another missing feature is Picture-in-Picture., it has a very limited picture and audio adjustments menu and doesn't even come with cables. The quality of the latest Panasonics including the TC-32LX50 is abysmal, you'll be lucky if you don't see a dead/stuck pixel on one of them. {BTW, mine has one stuck.} Samsung in the other hand has all these features and more, There's enough settings to get the best picture quality and sound., It has this "Anynet" feature, that lets you connect other samsung devides and control them all from the TV's screen sort of like a media center PC. A few more important things is Panasonic's response time which is 16ms, while Samsung's is 12ms the Constrast ratio of the Samsungs is higher {3,000:1} Blacks are truly Black. Panasonic delivers Blacks but not as Black as Samsung's. If you ever need assistance Samsung's Customer service is top notch, you don't have to worry calling them and waiting on the phone for 20-minutes for a CSR like Panasonic Customer Service. Don't be fool by thouse other forums that praise Panasonic like it's the best thing in the world, according to their members there's nothing better than a Panasonic, {yeah right} Panasonic couldn't had pay for better advertising than that. I own both Plasma and LCD from them and they've been the worst purchases i've ever made. |

Perrey Z. Unregistered guest | Personal experience with LCDs from both brands. The Panasonic website and call center have nothing but misleading information. Before you buy it's one thing, once you have commited, you'll find out the unpleseant truth. Take a look at http://www.onecall.com/ search for the Panasonic TC-19LX50. According to Panasonic, all 4-new LCDs {including this one} have HDMI inputs, but if you scroll down the specs. of the TC-19LX50 {and TC-23LX50} the specifications makes no mention of any HDMI even though it says "with HDMI" and later "no view" on the TC-19LX50... Another misleading information is with the TC-23LX50, according to the spec. the swivel stand is NOT included, but ask the dealers and they will all tell you the stand DOES comes assemble with the TV. That's some of their misleading information. Another thing is their LCDs like most TVs are capable of displaying closed caption., but Panasonic does not mention on which inputs., their LCD TVs will be able to display captions but only on 480i resolution and that's on the RF coaxial only. That information is not disclose to the consumer, you'll find that limitation when you buy it. There's a lot of misleading information coming from Panasonic. The best way to know if your unit has all the features mentioned on their specification sheet is to visit a B&M and see the set for yourself. |
Anonymous | Both sets look excellent to me side by side at Hi Fi buys. Clearly a step up from older models still out there. The all black samsung version is great looking. They are the same retail price. I initially decided on the panasonic. The colors, while both vivid on both, are more natural looking on the Panasonic. Look at skin tones. Samsung boosts greens and reds. The Panasonic has HDMI input, but no VGA input if that is important. Presently, I am holding out to look at the latest Toshiba at HHGregg 32LX95 as this set for the same money has cable card/QAM tuning. I am putting the set on a wall and don't want extra wires to a cable box. Don't need on demand presently. There is a new JVC as well, but prior reviews on a prior model were awful(PCWorld). |
