I recently purchased a Direct View CRT Panasonic 34" Tau HDTV, and it has what Panasonic refers to as line-doubling progressive scan, which supposedly works on whatever source you are using (digital cable, vcr, dvd, videogames). My question is: should I be enabling the progressive scan function on my Onkyo DVD player (I have connected component cables), or is it pointless, considering that the Television already is running a line-doubler? I have tried both ways, and I honestly don't see that much of a difference. Thanks for anybody's input.
Ok, maybe I did somewhat answer my own question, but, in reality, is there any difference between a TV's built in line-doubler, and using a progressive scan dvd player, with component cables? Are there any technical differences, or should I just leave the progressive scan on my dvd player off, and let the tv do the work?
