New member Username: LissaPost Number: 1 Registered: Jul-05 | I recently bought an HD 26" Widescreen Samsung TV, and I'm totally lost when it comes to buying cables. All I know, is that when I connect it to my DVD player, the picture is definitely not HD. This is the TV I bought: This is my DVD/VCR player: http://www.directron.com/ssd803.html Do I need a special cable to connect the two in order to get HD from my dvd's? Or is it not even possible? I'm also looking at buying this home theater system: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7067265&productCategoryId=pcmcat40 200050002&type=product&id=1108125945820 which brings me RIGHT BACK to the cable problem again. HELP!!! Thanks, Lissa |
fx Unregistered guest | Your main problem is that you are expecting to get HD from a DVD. Not gonna happen! As of today unless you live in Japan there are no HD DVD's, they all are recorded in 480i. Your display will upconvert them to it's native resolution. You can however connect an antenna and get OTA HD signals with this TV. xvxvxvx |

I currently don't have cable tv set up, but if I undertand correctly I can access HD stations with just an antenna? Where can I find out what stations are available in my area? (I live in Manhattan if that makes a difference) Thanks so much for your help... -Lissa |
fx Unregistered guest | You are welcome Lissa, Go to www.antennaweb.org Just enter your zipcode or if you wish for more accuracy (since you live in Manhattan I would) enter a complete address. It will tell you which antenna you need and what stations you can receive. From your home in NY you should get quite a few. Good luck, xvxvxvx |

I am more than pleased with the quality I get out of mine...I have 2 by samsung, one is DVI and I have the newer one with HDMI... samsung hd-850 , give it a look-see |
