hey decko what do you mean by"lnb need to be for fta"?
simply I am using a standard LNB for dishnet and my question is when all the channels went down can I just turn the dish to TA5 or I need to replace the LNB with a universal one to get those fta channels? by the way, I am in Toronto too

Universal linear LNB ([link removed] or www.ftasource.com LNB-$29.99) and a 30-36 inch dish is needed for T5 97W bird..the bigger the dish, the better to receive those weaker signals and lower frequencies with the Universal LNB..

What are you using for an LNB/LNBF? A standard DBS LNBF (DN/BEV) in North America covers frequencies from around 12200-12700 MHz, uses circular polarization, and has an I.F. of 11250. If that is what your are trying to use to get IA-5 Ku, then you would be better off with either a standard North American FSS band (11700-12200 MHz), linearly polarized LNBF or a universal (10700-11700 MHz, 22kHz off; 11700-12700 MHz, 22kHz on), LNBF that is also linearly polarized, since IA-5Ku is linearly polarized and operates in the NA-FSS band. Your receiver would be set up according to what LNBF you are using as to I.F. Frequency and 22kHz settings.
Standard LNB for use above 12200 frequency.
Universal(which is linear) LNB good for low frequecies < 12200
Better go see the TOP mod so you don't get in trouble.
